Behind The Artist
My name is Sean Bienhaus, and I’m an indie rock artist from Hamilton. As an artist my focus is on honesty, poetry, and storytelling. My songs revolve around themes of mental illness, community, love, and resilience, with music taking influences from the genres of rock, pop, folk and electronic music. I started out as a guitarist, playing rock songs with my high school band, but with the onset of lockdown in 2020, I began experimenting with home recording and trying to learn how to sing. After putting out my first full-length album in late 2021, (”You Won’t Ever Know”) I found a real love for music production and went off to study audio production and engineering at the college level, immersing myself in the art of recording. Today I not only write, record and produce my own music, but also regularly work with other artists on their own projects.
In 2023, I began working steadily as a gigging musician and artist - singing, and playing guitar all across Southern Ontario, occasionally supported by a backing band, but mostly acting as a one-man acoustic act, playing close to 150 shows in the last year alone at festivals, bars, breweries, farmers markets, art galleries and more!
In 2024, I began to put out music again with the release of “I Didn’t Know How to Leave” - an EP grounded in acoustic and alt rock sounds with themes of tragedy, mental illness and love. I also had the pleasure of playing one of my favorite shows ever at Hamilton’s own Supercrawl and even put out a live album with the recordings from that show!
Since then, I have put out 8 singles and am currently working on completing my next two studio albums. Additionally I am starting a new 6 piece live band to perform my original music live throughout 2026!
I perform very often as a solo acoustic act, with close to 150 shows played in 2025 alone. However, I am planning on putting together a full live band in the vein of Bruce Springsteen for my festival performances in 2026.
